Perhaps Lady Gaga deserves a little more Applause for her latest offering in the clothing department.

The 27-year-old singer managed a stylish and rather more serene look as she stepped out of her New York hotel on Thursday.

It was a blend of Saturday Night Fever meets hippy chic as Gaga strode out wearing a flared red jumpsuit, teamed with a shell necklace and a long, tousled blonde wig.

By Gaga's standards, it was certainly understated and - refreshingly - not so over the top.

Even her grey heels looked far more down to earth, so to speak, compared to her her usual penchant for monstrous platforms and spiked dominatrix heels.

Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, was seen on her way to rehearsals for Saturday Night Live.

This coming weekend, the songstress will finally fulfil a dream she's held for the past 23 years by walking through the hallowed halls of the NBC building in New York's famed Rockefeller Center as she acts as host and musical guest for the show.

She tweeted her excitement at the prospect on Tuesday, after filming a number of promos for her appearance alongside series regular Kenan Thompson.

'AH! I've been envisioning this since I was 4 AND 3/4rs!' she informed her more than 40.5 million followers.

On Thursday night Gaga was out in the Big Apple to cut the ribbon for the opening of H&M's new flagship store in New York.

Without any sign of grotesque fake teeth or a dress with filet steak attached, Gaga looked pretty in a brightly coloured jumpsuit and wavy blonde hair.

Wearing minimal make-up, apart from bright red lipstick, the singer looked relatively ordinary.

Holding a huge pair of singers, the singer was called upon to do the honours of opening the store in Times Square.

But that's not to say the Do What You Want singer is going to stop pushing the envelope.

Just recently the star revealed that she has 'really great sex' with her boyfriend.

The Dope singer - who has been dating Taylor Kinney since meeting on the set of her video You and I in July 2012 - never enjoyed intimacy until she began romancing the hunky actor.

Speaking to Miranda Sawyer on the BBC Two's The Culture Show, she said: 'Because my earlier experiences with sex were quite perverted and scary, terrifying - I felt quite numbed by my experiences and I wanted to escape things. But now I have really great sex. '
